Home Theater Screens

The large cinema screen is one of the features of viewing a movie in a movie theater that has, until now, never been replicated in the home. Increasingly, people are choosing to watch movies at home and this has resulted in an increasing number of large screen televisions available on the market. The wide selection can be problematic, however, if you do not know the features or specifications that are best for you.

The size of movie screen that you want is one thing that you must carefully consider before investing any money. This is something that most of us have personal preferences in, and you must explore the options before deciding your own view.

Perhaps the best way to determine the size and type of movie screen that you wish to buy is to mark a space on your home movie theater wall with a white screen or black masking tape. You will, of course, need to see that you have a clear view of this board from the back of the room. You should place a picture, comprising a variety of colors and images, on this screen or masking tape.

To test the size you have selected, place a chair in front of the screen and sit down. If the image on the screen causes your eyes to strain or your vision to blur, then you will need to move your chair further away from the wall. This test should be repeated until you have found a size of screen that suits the size of your home movie theater space.

You should then repeat the test, but using a smaller ’screen’ and starting with your chair at the back of the room. If the picture is not entirely clear when you are relaxed in the seat, move your chair forwards. You should continue to move forwards until viewing the picture is comfortable for you. This point should be similar to the point at which it was comfortable to watch the larger screen.

This test usually shows that the medium-sized range of movie screens are ideal, and cause a minimum of eyestrain.

Once you have determined the size of the cinema screen you are going to purchase, you should gather a number of consumer reviews and articles before selecting the model you wish to invest in.
